First time coming to this restaurant and it most certainly won’t be the last! Everything was EXCELLENT! Took my husband here for his birthday and we felt like VIP right from the door. The atmosphere of the restaurant was swanky yet it gave it a cozy vibe as we were seated by the grand fireplace. Our waiter was fantastic and really took care of us from start to finish. The steaks were melt-in-your-mouth good and the side portions were big enough to share with others. My husband was surprised with Roots Super Sundae as his birthday dessert by the staff! Try the jumbo shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, you won’t be disappointed!

I had a fantastic dining experience at roots ocean prime steakhouse! The ambience was wonderful, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The service was attentive and made the evening even more enjoyable. The appetizers were a true delight. The Wagyu dumplings were perfectly tender inside and had a delightful crunch on the outside, making them an absolute must-try. The crab cocktail was a burst of flavor and absolutely delicious. The oysters were incredibly fresh and mouthwatering. Unfortunately, the dry-aged cowboy steak left me a bit disappointed. While it was cooked to my desired temperature, the flavor was lacking. I had expected a more pronounced and rich taste from a dry-aged cut, but it fell short of my expectations in that regard. Despite this, the overall experience at the restaurant was pleasant, with good service and a lovely ambiance. However, I was hoping for a more memorable steak experience. Overall, still a very good experience and I would definitely come back for another try.

Exquisite fine dining experience. Pricey but the ambiance, food and service are worth the $$$s. If driving, be sure to buffer in some time for an early arrival. You are going to need a good 10 minutes to find parking.

Came here for my birthday. Absolutely loved the lobster bites. The dry aged steak was amazing. The mushroom side was average. The servers were attentive and asked us about food allergies. Pricey, but worth it! Would definitely come back!

My friend and I wanted to find a great restaurant to eat at because we both are foodies. When we were deciding on the place to eat, Roots Ocean Prime in Princeton addressed both of our distance, food pallets and curiosity. The chopped salad was very filling. I liked the shrimp scampi’s presentation. While the salmon dinner with asparagus was common, I am told my friend’s scallop and bacon dinner was out of this world. For the first time I tried a raspberry meal. It was very good. The best part of our dining experience was the dessert. The butter cake with blueberry compote and whip cream is the item that I wish to return to the restaurant just to eat.

We were in town visiting on a business trip. Our executive took us here for dinner. My husband's favorite steakhouse is Maple & Ash so we're not strangers to fancy restaurants. Roots did not disappoint. The obvious perk is that they're located on the Princeton campus, but that's only the beginning. Everything from their ambience to their staff was top notch. The presentation, quality of food and flavor was on point. Most of us ordered a steak, while myself and my peer ordered fish. I got the salmon and he ordered the halibut. So delicious. Everyone raved about the sides, especially the au gratin potatoes and lobster macaroni and cheese. The seafood tower and shrimp cocktail for apps were DELICIOUS. From beginning to end, everything was wonderful. Definitely recommend and will return when we're in town next time!!

I love this place. Recently had dinner there celebrating my son's birthday. The food was delicious. Highly recommended if you like steak. I had limited options since I'm a vegetarian, but I still enjoyed the expérience. The brussel sprouts was excellent; had it without the bacons. My son enjoyed her steak.

This is my family's go-to for celebrations. The food is always good as is the service. And we love the popovers at the start of the meal, and someone always gets the shrimp cocktail which is impressive!
